A Raptor an SVT Vehicle? yes or no?
If your dumb enough to walk into the dealer and say "so I was beating the ***** out of my truck the other day and......." then the raptor is not for you. The whole point of the Raptor is that its made to be able to take some abuse, it ran the Baja1000 for crying out loud.
I have to disagree with this I have had lots of warranty work performed on an extended warranty, It just depends on how well your truck was put together. If your truck is fine and never had any warranty work on the standard warranty then you will probably be fine, but if you have then chances are you will have more problems after the standard warranty is up. IMO

uhh...the Raptors you see being sold off the showroom floor are NOT the same Raptor "R" that did run the baja 1000..
that 6.2L engine that they ran in the baja 1000 was broke down and reassembled, had different timing and so on...those shocks you saw, were NOT the same shocks, made by the same manufacturer, but not the same..i watched the "Born in Baja" movie...and those shocks are NOT the same ones that i have on my Raptor.
they also chopped the stock frame in half, and rebuilt it back up with a roll cage installed. they also installed different brakes...they gutted the entire interior, the tires are NOT the same BFG's you get on a production raptor...the Raptor R id dnot have "offroad mode" or downhill decent control, who knows if it even had the same transmission.
you will have to spend 90K in order to get the raptor that was raced at the baja 1000. I would like to believe MY raptor was raced at the baja 1000, but it wasnt...
Now the Dakar Rally....YES my very own 5.4 raptor was raced at the dakar rally..and did not finish. that was a bone stock, slightly modified 5.4 raptor that was driven by privateers that finished 17 stages till their luck finally ran out. That truck had the very same shocks, tranny, frame, motor and so on, than the raptor i got parked in my garage...that there was a true test of my truck, which i am very satisfied with. So all the claims Ford is making about this truck, is not what you think it is...but you can thank 2 Chilean privateers who had enough ***** to take out a stock raptor and go for glory. They did for us what Ford didnt.

He's probably talking about the STOCK 5.4 truck that ran in the Baja 500 and placed 3rd overall in its class. There was a big long story on it on the Discovery channel not too long ago. They took a completely off the showroom floor Raptor and did it. I'm sure that's what he is referring to.

they ran "test runs" at anza borrego with the 5.4, but they never raced it at the baja 1000, or 500, or 250, or whatever....
look at the movie "born in baja" explains it all man...I wish they did do that with my truck, but they didnt.
THATS the movie thats one the discovery channel...its all about the Raptor R....NOT A STOCK RAPTOR!!!!
need to do more homework on the subject if you are going to make such claims.

If you can form a decent relationship with your local service manager, he will recommend Ford fix things that are wrong with your truck should the need arise. I have seen it ten thousand times. Drove a tow truck for 12 years, seen people abuse there vehicles, towed them to the dealership, and if they are good with the service manager, it gets fixed. Ford does what the dealer recommends. If they have no history with the service guys, it usually doesn't get fixed under warranty. Yes your truck is an SVT, go enjoy it and don't sweat the small stuff.
"I'm amazed we could do so well with a stock production vehicle. Imagine what we could do if we modified it to really keep up with these trophy trucks."
I'm not one to believe everything I read or hear, but they mentioned that exact thing several different times in the course of the show. Since the truck in the show I watched looked identical to a stock Raptor and the ones you posted are not, I figured that's what they were referring to.
Relax dude. I was just going off of what they said on the show I watched. I recorded it and watched it again last night and the very last line of the show is.....

Ok, so back to your original post. You are worried about a warranty (that covers off road use) on a truck that I'm guessing you paid upper 30's-40K+ for. First, I'm pretty sure that if your truck breaks(reasonable parts) within any warranty period, they will fix it. Now if you break the rear axle and you bring the truck to them running on 3 tires and brake lines dragging the ground, I'm sure they are going to charge you. Ford is in a business to make money and if you do 5K+ worth of damage, they are eventually going to lose money because everyone will go run the Baja and get them to replace the entire drivetrain. If you owned Ford, would you really write up the warranty and tell everyone that you would cover any part that breaks during any type of off road use? Second, why spend that kind of money on a truck if the repair is out of your budget? I didn't buy my KR thinking "what am I going to do if I punch a hole in a seat that costs $1000" because after all, I did the damage to the truck and its not a warranty situation. A warranty is based on parts that fail due to normal use, not parts that have been abused.

and ide be poised to see you or anyone else break something on the raptor without knowing either how to drive offroad, and/or the trucks limits.
this is a "offroad tuned vehicle" its inspired by the trucks in the 1k. but by no means is it a full blown race vehicle. know the vehicles limits like anything else.
I own the movie on DVD and have watched it numerous times now. There's a short version of the full lengty movie that was shown on tv but the dvd is the full length. I think by saying "stock" vehicle, is that it was based on one, modified but, based on one. The Raptor R has a stock frame, trans., running gear and a built up 6.2. The cage, suspension and wheel/tire combo are not stock. The 6.2 was slightly underrated at 500hp.....it had the basic 3 mod of intake, exhaust (custom long tubes and such), and tuned along with a ported TB, slightly ported heads and cams. They also ran the truck in a class higher (class 3) than what they were supposed to be in (full stock) because it wasn't in production yet. So still placing 3rd in a class with more sophisticated trucks is incredible. I think they should be more careful with words they use though because it was most certainly not a stock Raptor that was raced in the Baja 1000. The one used in the Dakar Rally was though.
i agree, to find a service manager worth much of anything at these dealerships is a whole nother subject on its own...lol its almost like winning the lottery.
If any auto manufacturer wants to succeed, and do well, its the after math...basically the service department that could make or break a life long customer.
i have been to different regions here in the US...i will say in my area, a Dodge is the way to go. their dealerships are more prestigious than Ford in this area...and guess what everybody drives out here....a dodge. When i was in CA, Ford was awesome...again, cause of their local dealerships...when i was in Montana, GM was awesome...
hopefully Ford will take note, as for them to remain ontop, its going to take more than just coming out with a nice lineup...
look at Toyota...their service departments for the most part kick ***...before and after their run aways lol
