Ford To Auction First 2010 F-150 SVT Raptor At Barrett-Jackson
Interested in buying the first 2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor high-performance offroad pickup offered for sale? Here's your chance. Ford is putting the Raptor up for bid at the 2009 Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale, Ariz. in January.
The Raptor hitting the auction block will be a 5.4-liter V-8 model, rated at 320 horsepower / 390 pounds-feet of torque, that's slated to go on sale next summer. Not being auctioned is the brand-new 6.2-liter premium V-8 version, estimated at 400 hp and more than 400 pounds-feet of torque. The 6.2-liter Raptor is expected to go on sale in the fourth quarter of 2009.
Ford will also auction two other rear live axle vehicles at Barrett-Jackson; the first 2010 Mustang GT and 2010 Mustang Shelby GT500.
All proceeds above the Raptor's retail price will be donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

I bet they'll get a lot of it. Chevy did good by auctioning off one of the first 09 ZR1s at Barrett-Jackson. I bet this might bring in a lot of money too.

I saw the first Mustang GT (KR) go across the auction block yesterday. All of the proceeds went to a charity for juvenile diabetes, and it sold for something like $550,000 if I remember right. Any idea WHEN the Raptor goes across the auction block? I want to see it in a bad way.

I don't see this truck bringing a whole heck of alot. First, it's a truck. I've never seen trucks - even nice ones - go for much money at Barrett-Jackson. Second, it's still got a just a 5.4.
For a new production car to bring alot of money it needs to be truly bad-***, like the ZR1.
I'd guess it would roll across the block on Saturday, probably Sunday. That's when the manufacturers want the publicity.

I think we need to keep in mind that the Raptor will be a genuine SVT vehicle. When was the last time you saw an SVT anything that wasn't expensive? I'm thinking the regular production version is going to be $55K, and that even this used pre-production version is going to go for at least $70K at Barret-Jackson.

55k? if any of you pay 55k for a truck that has SVT on it and no supercharger I'll come kick you in the nuts!

Well how much is the supercharger worth? $2K ? And how much are the longer a-arms, stronger CVs, longer rear axle with heavier tubes, the new hood, grille, front fenders, and rear fenders worth? And don't forget the Fox Racing bypass shocks. We'll have to wait and see how much Ford wants for these, but I'm betting the Raptor offroad package will cost more than a supercharger does.
One other item to remember, ... Ford has never lost money on an SVT vehicle, and I'll bet they make money on the Raptor as well, even with the economy in the dumps.
