Raptor cab and bed size questions ?

Okay, well first off, every Raptor I have seen has the "correct" size cab.... an S-cab {like all F150's should be ;-) If you need more cab, get an Expedition !

But as for the bed size, all the Raptors I have seen have the goofy little (too short) 5 1/2ft bed, with the exception of the one DeWalt factory Raptor, which appears to have the ugly (too long) 8ft bed ?
Just seems kind of odd to me, as every S-cab I ever see in my area, comes standard with a 6 1/2ft bed, while anything else, apparently, is a special order.

So anyway, at least they have the cab length correct. Have they / are they going to make any with the correct (6 1/2ft) bed size ???

Who ? Me ? Oppinionated ? :-)

Peace,
Fish

The only reason I can think for the shorter bed would be for the shorter wheel base, so it can handle better racing.

Hmmmm....

Your probably right. Then I guess, when a large company like DeWalt wants an 8ft bed on theirs, they just tell Ford, "make us one with an 8ft bed"....

BTW RS, I see you know what length an F150 cab and bed should be :-) ....and also, the best use for a truck ! :-)

Peace,
Fish

The Dewalt F150 isn't a Raptor. It's a completely different truck in itself.

Anyway, I doubt the Raptor will be available in any different configurations just because SVT generally only uses one cab/bed (ex.- Lightning)

I dunno why you would want a Raptor in a super crew anyway...that is going against the whole point of the Baja Racing/Off-Road influenced design and purpose of the truck. IMO, the 5.5 bed looks the best for this application, but a 6.5 wouldn't be bad either I guess...however, it might screw up the handling of the truck going with the longer wheelbase though, which once again kind of defeats the purpose of this kind of truck in the first place.

Lighter and one specific configuration are my guesses as to why they do it. I agree, a Scab with 6.5 is the look I like. The 6.5' bed might look more reasonable with the flair.

Wow !

I can't believe it never dawned on me..... I had even said, "The Raptors have the correct cab size...." But yea' they do have the short reg cab too.

Honestly, when I first started looking at F150's, I was looking for a reg cab anyway, but ended up having my arm twisted, as none of the nice extras (power windows / locks, full carpet, cruise control, etc) was available with the reg cabs (without special order).
In the end, I was glad I got the S-cab (once I got those rear seats yanked out ;-) ....but no way, would I have got that over sized cab of the S-crew.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Okay so, if I ever get a 09' or later F150, I'll just go on and get me an S-cab, standard 6 1/2ft bed.... Then put a Raptor grille, and hood on it ;-) Black the rest of it out.... and aftermarket wheels / tires, shocks, etc, etc, etc :-)
And BAM ! Better than a Raptor in my book, as it will be different than something any goofball with money, can just go out and buy :-)
Peace,
Fish
hate to burst ur bubble Fish Chris but there is no way without custom work being done to get the raptor hood and grill on a regular f150. The truck itself is much wider with a larger grill opening if im not mistaken.
its like tryin to fit a 500lb woman in a one size fits all bikini. AINT GONNA HAPPEN
Hey Chrome.....
No, no.... Not on my 08'.....
I was just saying that if I ever got an 09' or even a 2010 (can you just call that a 10' ? Sounds kinda' weird) but anyway, a 10' that wasn't a Raptor, I could make it look a LOT better with that grille, and hood.... among other things...
Peace,
Fish
Chrome was talking about the new body style 09 or 10. The truck is much wider than a regular F-150 which is why is has to have running lights and such on it. Plus putting a hood and grill on a regular F-150 is not going to make it anything close to a raptor. It will just be cosmetics.
Just a guess but I think it's the same cab, but whats making the Raptor wider is its larger fenders, and the bigger flares. So in theory you could turn a regular 09 F-150 into a Raptor COSMETICALLY.
i dunno, it may sit upon two different frame rails up front, because of the long travel suspension. i wouldn't bet on being able to bolt the body panels down on a non Raptor.
If this is true you could also turn a screw into the same look...
There still may be a new truck in my future yet if I cant order what I want.
A Screwtor or a Raptcrew.
It looks like the extra width is in the fenders. I would think that the hood would be the same width as a regular F150.
the extra width is usually in the fenders, and the suspension parts of the truck. look at any pre runner truck and you will see the control arms are longer widening the truck. and the fenders are just to cover up the wheels. yes, i agree until someone else proves me wrong, that alot of parts will be interchangable body wise, but might require some work
