Unhappy Squeaking Rear Suspension

My 98 XLT 2whl drive squeaks something awful when the weather is dry from the rear springs. When it's raining it's as quiet as a mouse. It seems to be the leaf spring bushings making the noise. I've sprayed them with every kind of lubricant i could find and it quiet for a couple of days then the squeak comes back.Has anyone replaced them theirself's and if so how hard is it,what do i need, etc.? Thanks in advance.

This article replaces all the bushings on a super duty, but it has pictures and discriptions of replacing the rear leaf bushings and lubing them....

it is a pain to replace the bushings. you might want to look and make sure the bushings have'nt slid to one side in the springs themselves allowing metal to contacr, also check the clamping band around the springs and the insulators between the leafs (at the ends)

More than likely, one or more of the teflon spacers between the leaf springs are either worn out or missing causing metal to metal comtact. I had the very same problems on my '99 and replaced 3 of the spacers. No more squeaks! I'm sorry, I forgot the PN for them but they are about $15 a pack. If I were you, i would order 2 packs beacause I think we will be needing them about every 50,000-75,000 miles to replace one or two. I can't stand a squeaky truck!
