Squeaking noise from front end

Hi,
I had the same problem with my 97 4X4.
I greased the pitman and idler arm first. No help.
I then replaced my upper control arms which include the upper ball joint. This did not help. Finally replaced my lower ball joints and the squeak went away. You have to grease these trucks regularly or the front ends do not last a year. I do mine everytime I change my oil. Lower ball joints are around $40 @ any Carquest.
