SuperCrew payload

Does anyone have any experience with a cabover camper in their SuperCrew? I am looking into buying one and I want to make sure that my SuperCrew can handle the payload.

duggydug, If you have a 4x2 with 4.6L you will have 1,705lbs payload and 5.4L 4x2 is 1,875lbs.
4x4 with 4.6L 1,505lbs / 5.4L is 1,670lbs
Those numbers are for 2001 Supercrerws so your 2002 should be about the same.

duggydug,

Who makes a cabover camper that will fit in the SCrew's box?

Hunting camp could get downright civilized!!!

Thumbs down

There is only one company that makes a slide in camper for the SCrew, SixPac. They state that they have one that will work with the SCrew, but Ford does not recomend any camper.

Well obviously Ford won't recommend a camper. I doubt Ford would recommend anything that is even near the border of being "over-weight". I mean look at the F-250's and 350's, for Ford to give them the "Ok" to put in a camper they need to purchase the camper package. This is basically just more money for Ford and all they give you is a certificate which says your able to haul an in-bed camper. The thing is from what I've heard, any sort of real in-bed camper will be over the weight limits that Ford has set (even with the 'Camper Package').

Bottom line, if you want to do it, do it.

I think I have decided to screw the camper idea and go with a lightweight toy hauler. You can get a lot more room for the same price.
