Exclamation What Shocks??

I know this has probobly been answered once before, but what is a good shock to go with? I am looking for comfort of ride.

How are the Rancho 9000's when it comes to comfort of ride?
Anyone have a specific shock that they recommend? If you have had several different shocks before, could you please explain the difference between the ones you have tried and why you like the current ones you are using compared to the others.
Thanks.

Haven't used them yet but based on recommendations I am without a doubt going with the Edelbrocks. From what I've heard those and the 9000's are the unanimous best to get. Can't go wrong either way. I think the only reason I'm going with the Edelbrocks is 1, I wouldn't use the adjustments and 2, been using Edelbrock products for years so it's a name I trust.

If you don't need/use the adjustments get the 5000s.

I just put RS5000 on all 4 corners and I have to say the ride is a bit harsher than stock, but I like it. It rides like a truck now.

The 9000's are your BEST deal in a shock. You can tighten up the front end and rear end independently if you want. FAR!!!!! better than stock shocks in dampening. setting #1 is very soft I'd only use it if you like a boat type ride #2 is a good comprimise in that it is softer riding than the stock shock but still gives you better dampening. #3 is tight good for light off road and to eliminate body roll. If you are a fast driver this is what you will like. #4 is for off road or loaded rear. It is stiff. #5 is strictly for rough country of heavy load/tow. I used to use #3 F/R then did a split with #2 in the rear. Normal driving. Dogs in the rear#1 is best. If you got choppy paved roads then #2 work good all around. It really depends on your driving style. That is what's BEST about them.......not just a 5 in 1 shock but with the combinations it's a 45 in 1 set up What ever you do get rid of those stock sticks. They are all over the place when it comes to doing their job.

I say the 9000's or edelbrocks would be your best bet.

I just put on Edelbrocks and am very happy. The truck is stiffer, but not really harsher. In fact at speed you will feel small bumps and holes a lot less and it will corner better. I just had in into some light offroading this Sat and it road well there also. They are more expensive, but I would recommend them.

Rancho's

I think I will be purchasing the 9000's.
Is there any special things that I would have to do since they have different adjustment settings? I heard that they have some electric setting or something....
Is this true?

I just thought that they were manually adjusted by clicks on the actual shock.

No electrics.....optional air switch but I would avoid it. Yes you are correct .....just turn the little nobbs on the shocks. BEST shocks I've ever used........you'll like them.

I got mine from www.4wheelparts.com seemed they had the best prices and this includes shipping charges. Alot of sites have a cheaper per shock price but HIGHLY inflate the shipping.......you'll end up paying MORE!!!!! so beware. Good established company, fast shipping and they send you a bimonthly magazine/catolog which is interesting. Also lookout for buy three get one free deal........usually in spring early summer but I wouldn't feel to bad paying for all 4........they are great shocks!!

Ouch!

350.00 is a little more than I was wanting to spend... How does the 5000 series hold up? I notice they are half the cost. Are they half the shock as well?

Thanks again guys.

I have the RS5000's and am very pleased with them.

As fade2black stated earlier they will stiffen up the ride over
stock. I have had mine on for about 20,000 miles.

I purchased mine at Advanced Auto for $35 each.

My 02 FX4 came with Ranchos. It is really stiff. When I drive over a dime I can tell whether its heads or tails. When I change shocks I'm getting HD Bilsteins. Best ride and best handling (IMHO).
