Question loose feeling in steering column

1997 f150 4x4 long bed 37 k miles all factory no mods
little v-8
Does anybody have a condition while driving at any speed that
feels like the steering wheel is loose (of coarse its not) but any
way I accelerate to say 5mph then solidly apply brakes i can actually feel the steering wheel slightly "bump" for lack of a better word. Almost as if it was loose. Also when driving over bumpy surfaces.
Ford dealer says he can't replicate the condition.(what else is new)So i guess i'm just imagining it???
I have checked the column under the hood -and even wedged a wooden shim into the gap where the shafts slide over one another- it seemed to make a slight imp. but i'm not into having a fix like that.
any other people have simular problem like this?

I had the same problem. TSB's called it a slip and grip condition in the steering shaft and recommeded replacing the shafts with revised shafts. I sprayed motorcycle chain lube inside the shaft bellows about a year ago and have not had the problem since.
