Towing with Edelbrocks??
Towing with Edelbrocks??
Anyone do any trailer towing with Edelbrock IAS shocks? I have searched and found nothing but great stuff about them, but nothing with towing. I want to get a set of them but would like to hear how they do with a 4500-5500 lb trailer. I don't tow alot so don't think I would need or want an adjustable shock (9000) because I would probably put it somewhere and leave it. Thanks for the info.
Hey Galaxy,
I've had the Edelbrocks for about 5 months now and tow my bass boat once or twice a week. My rig weighs somewhere in the 3000-3500# range. Tongue weight is supposed to be 7% which would be 210-245#. I've noticed that she squats a bit less when pulling out of the driveway ( no more scraping the trailer on the pavement). As far as road manners, there is a small improvement in stability. Smooth as silk on the highway with the extra load. I've also just switched the Goodyear RT-S's to Michelin LTX M/S's. The GY's are just total junk. They are for sale, cheap ( How's that for a sales pitch!).
I haven't had experience with shock other than the Edelbrocks and the stock ORP shocks, which went straight into the trash can after removal. The Edelbrocks are a sizeable improvement over the stock shocks - Just as firm, but much less harsh over the rough stuff ( our local roads are **** poor). Now, if I could just locate the mystery clunking in my front end on takeoff.

Same as everyone else here. I've been towing with mine for two years without a problem. I pull a bass boat that's about 3200#'s and I've put probably 15,000miles pulling my boat in that amount of time.
