2004+ F150s are gonna be HELL TO LIFT!

...Because of their IRS. Thats right...the new 2004 F150s will have both a front and rear independent suspension. I dont like it. Not one bit.

Not to mention the cost will be to lift it...aww, i'm so sad now...

Where did you hear this? I know the 03 Expedition has IRS, but the next F-150s? It makes no sense at all to put IRS on a pick up truck.

Check this article out. It talks about the F-Series having 5 different packages and some of them using the IRS from the 2003 Expedition. I doubt they'll all have IRS.

I would speculate a heavy duty half ton in the future. I realize the LD 250 was a joke but I would appreciate a better ride and tuneable suspension.

i'm 20...live off of raccoon dr.
I'm the son of Chris Warford and grandson of bob warford who own TSO on Garth and Texas Ave....that might help

Um, as far as the IRS goes. I hope its not gonna be on all of em. With so much money goin into this redesign i do see them having different options for suspensions. IRS would be great on a 2wd if you ask me, but i like to lift and i use my 4wd eno' that it would be a pain for me. But like i said...options are always cool

Independent rear suspension is a stupid idea! BUT... us as the ones who like to lift these kinds of trucks and give them some abuse are a very small minority in today's truck market. The majority who the Ford engineers are catering to are the soccer mom's and suburbanites who want to be cool and drive a truck, but never leave the road and want the 4x4 for when they would need it in the winter maybe 8 times at the most in a year.

Thank you, sdiesel316
I hate all this talk about IRS on a truck. SUV's, OK. But not a truck. In fact, I hate IFS. Not to offend anyone or start a flame campaign, but that is JMHO. The whole idea of trucks getting more and more domesticated and getting further and further away from thier original purpose worries me. But, then again, constant change is the only way to advance. There's a lot of things I don't like but have to deal with. I'm sure whatever happens will all work out for the best in the end. Just as long as I can still go to the dealership and get a straight axle, manual trans, no power anything, get in and drive, tough as nails truck to beat the cr@p out of, takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin' type of 4x4, there will be peace in my world.
BTW, abullerm, that LD250 is no joke. My friend has a 1999 LD f250 4x4 with the 4.6 and 5spd. That truck is twice the truck the F150 is. Bigger frame, stronger drivetrain, bigger payload, tougher truck. That is why Ford just changed the badging to the F150 7700 instead of scrapping the whole idea. I have seen him take it offroad and jump it through the air into huge mud puddles that 85% of today's F150 owners would cower to. Even I wouldn't do what he's done! And I know my truck is stronger than his. He uses it every day as a real work truck. Pounds on it and it asks for more. I can't believe how much that truck has handled.
Again, not trying to start a war here, just sticking up for the LD f250. I appreciate and respect everybody's input here and don't want to be misinterpreted as "attacking" anyone. Thank you and take care.
