How many torsion bar turns?
Decided to play around today and cranked up my torsion bars. I already turned them up 2 turns last summer to help with clearance for my 285's.
I turned them 3 more times today and remeasured the front and it raised about 1 inch. It sat pretty level but there was more room in the front wheelwell than in the back and it made it look off. I went ahead and lowered 1 more turn and that seemed to be just right.
So my question is how many turns do you guys have yours turned up?
Just curious thanks for the input

Just one turn so I could say that I "cranked 'em".
I kinda like the slight "rake" these 4x4's have. I think they are desinged that way so that when you load up the bed or tow something, it brings it to a level position and doesn't make it look like it's "overloaded". Plus keeps the headlights from pointing up in the sky when doing any of the above.......

I have mine cranked 3 to 3.5 turns and I got about a 7/8" lift in the front. It evens her out real good. I took it in for alignment and it was still in spec. The torsion bars have been cranked up since for about 25,000 miles now and haven't had a problem yet, knock on wood.
Yes it is an 18mm socket and turn them clockwise. I lifted the front of my truck up while I did mine to ease in turning them.

excuse my ignorance, but where exactly is the nut located? I haven't even looked for it yet, just wondering general location. Also, why would adjusting these have anything to do with the alignment?

I just cranked mine up last night, very easy to do. There are 2 bolts located about 20 inches in just under both the Drivers side and Pass doors. Just follow the Tortion bars back and the go about 6 inches torward the center of the truck.
I cranked mine up 3 turns last night measuring with each turn and after is is all said and done with I ended up raising the front end 1 1/8 inches with the 3 turns.
Hope this helps...

Well I cranked mine 7 full turns which gave me 1 1/2" of lift. You guys need to make SURE you get an alignment. When you crank the Torsion Bars it sets your camber at a negative and I had to put a camber kit in, to set it back right . If you fail to do this your tires are GOING to be toed and get aweful wear. I noticed a lot of wear in one week. Cost me $125 for alignment because I have a lifted truck and they had to put my stock tires on to fit it on the rack.
. Good Luck
