2dollarsteak Gets Face Lift!!
Looks really good...my only question is how are the 3.55s holding up with those tires...i dont mean just wear and tear, but mainly power...! You must be very bogged down...but anyways, that setup is exactly what i've been wanting to do...i just dont have the $$$...o well, good job...looks great...
BigBadRedLiftedFordMan,
I was wondering as well. But I have came to a conclusion. Gears are way over rated. I will probablly upgrade my gears this summer for interstate driving but that's it. Around town I can't tell a difference except off the line (and thats not a big one). So all and all right now I am happy and see no need for Gears. My gas milage has also stayed about the same.

hey 2dollarsteak, that's a sweet truck. I just got a 6'' on my extended cab short bed 4x4 but it only looks like a 5''. I got 35'' x-terrains and i wan't to go bigger! I was looking at getting a 2'' body lift but was thinkin about a 3'' body lift today but i still wan't it to look good, not too big cause i only have 35'' tires and they're brand new so i can't get 36's for a while what do you think a 2'' or 3'' on a 6'' w/35's? anyways thanks!
Well 1st off the truck looks a heck of alot better than what it did before with the Wrangler AT/S on it. What the heck do you do for a living to afford all that stuff. I need to start doing something like that. I can barely afford to pay for my truck.
Thats absolutely freaking amazing. I have the same drivetrain that you have and I noticed a difference going from 255/70/16s to my 285/75/16s. Enough of a difference where I really should regear it to probably 4.10s at least, but since I don't have $1200 to drop for gears and lockers for it thats out of the question. Gears are one of the MOST important things in your drive train. They are in NO WAY overrated. Yes you don't have to regear something but it makes a big improvement. I have seen 2 Chevelles race before, one had a built 350 in it, cranking out ALOT of hp and the other had a 6 cylinder, but was geared lower. Well the 6cyl smoked the V8 by 2 to 3 car lengths all thanks to the gearing. He wouldn't have had a chance to win in an overall speed contest due to the low gears. I would reccommend regearing your truck a soon as you can afford to. Running 37s with the 3.55s is putting a fair amount of stress on your transmission. With a set of 4.56s you will get down to the high side of the stock ratio. You could however go with some 5.13s and get down to the low side of the stock ratio and get off the line alot quicker. Only problem with that is that in order to get the 5.13s you would have to get some out of a Curry high pinion 9" (expensive gears). They use the 8.8 ring gear but I would suspect that since yours is so new that you have the 9.75" ring gear, in which case you're stuck with the 4.56s. But once again nice truck.

Sweet looking truck! How do you like the 37" SSR's? I am curious on what tire i want to get. How do they handle off and on the road? Is there much road noise from the tire, and do they rub at all with the 16x10 rims and 8" cause i have am thinking of an 8" lift with those same rims and tires. I have a 1997 regular cab. Thanks and sweet truck!!! Nice Job!
The Super Swamper Radial's are without a doubt my favorite set fo tires I have ever ran or owned. For being a 37 they handle great, little noise, and do good in all weather conditions. Offroad these tires have great performance as well.
I did have to do some trimming and I am going to have to do some more, but it is barely noticeable. Go with these tires you will have no regrets.
Powerstroke- I do agree I need to regear it's just not something that has to be done right now in order for the truck to still run. I still pass plenty on the Interstate and run good enough around town. Also I dont think it is any of your business on how I get my money. But I do agree with you and thanks for the comments.
