need suspension lift help!
ok first i will admit i know nothing about these lifts, but i have been searching around and reading about what looks good and this is what i want....
*i have a '02 screw 4x4 and i want to keep my 17" rims because i like them.
*i want a 4" suspension lift with 35" tires that aren't loud on the freeway because i have a sunroof and would like to open it and still hold a conversation.
*i want the rancho rs9000 shocks because i have heard good things about them.
i am clueless on what brands are best and what brands come with what. i can't find a shop in my area that knows anything about this stuff and i figure ya'll could help me out.

ok, well there are several different brands that make 4-5" lifts as far as suspensions go:
...Rancho
...Trailmaster
...RCD
...ProComp
...Superlift
...Whiplash
~Everyone will say something different about the brands...some hate one and love another, and some vice-versa...if you search the board, you'll find many a post about which is better...and no one really stands out...rancho and RCD are the most popular by far on here, but that does not mean the others are bad by any means...
~As far as tires go...look at the 35" ProComp A/Ts are pretty agressive looking with minimal noise. And they should fit on the stock rims, but they will look very skinny on the stockers...
As far as 3" body lifts go...you'll probably want to get a Performance Accessories lift...that what 99% of us have...and it works and looks great.
Sounds like a great setup...but i'd consider some wider rims...17x10s would prolly look the best, or step down to 16x10s and your option multiply 10 fold...anyways, good luck, let us know...

I've got the Rancho lift on mine and so far so good. The main reason that I chose it was the recommendation of the guys at 4 Wheel Parts. All the parts seem to be top notch as far as I can see.
I'm also running the RS9000's and I love them. Being able to adjust them just by turning the **** is great.
My tires are Muds but to tell you the truth, I didn't notice any real difference in noise inside the truck over my stockers. I wanted to use my stock rims too, but the guys at the shop said I'd have major rubbing issues if I did. I don't know if they were just blowing smoke to get me to buy new rims or not. I'm happy with the new rims anyway. Plus, now I run the stock tires and rims in the winter to save my nice tires and rims for the good weather.
Hope this helps.

rtroha,
so did you install the suspension lift yourself or did you fork out whatever it costs to have it done? also do you have the in cab remote set up on your shocks? i deffinately want that. i am considering just buying the alterains for my stock rims for freeway driving and just buy an aditional set of rims for the mud tires because they are so loud.....not sure on that yet though.

Nope, didn't do it myself.
Due to time constraints with the truck, I had the shop do the lift. Plus, that was my wedding present from my wife to me. She's so cool!
I've not heard good things about the in cab controller for the 9000's. It seems they're not very reliable but that might just be hearsay.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do. I'm sure it will be sweet.

rtroha,
Do you know how much your mods cost? I have the exact same truck and would love to do the same thing. Your truck looks awesome!

With the big tires on it, I usually get around 12.5 MPG's. When I drive it to work it goes 13 miles one way on the freeway and I have no problem cruising at 75-80MPH. I think the only other thing I'm going to do suspension-wise is crank up my torsion bars to level the truck out. I'll do that in the spring then take it in for an alignment.

That's about what I get now in terms of mileage. I like your truck so much I set it as wallpaper on my pc. That thing is sweet. Do you think it would be easy to do it yourself, or is more trouble than it's worth?
The suspension lift doesn't look that hard but the body lift looks like trouble to me. I didn't have access to a welder and there are two metal bed supports that are welded to my frame. You'll definitely save yourself a bunch of money by doing it yourself.
BTW, I have a gallery on the site that has more pictures of the truck if your interested.
