better handling mods 101
hey guys,
my truck rolls A LOT. nothing out of the ordinary as far as trucks go...but i am looking to eliminate a good deal of body roll. and i would like to stiffen up the ride a little bit. Make her handle a good deal better. what would you guys say is the most cost effective way of doing so? what mods do you have and how are they working out? (see sig for infor on my truck)

ChaoticRacer,
i was thinking about the swaybars but was concerned about a couple things. anyone who can answere these for me would be appreciated.
1) i might drop my truck in the future...something small...two inches maybe. do i have to get a different sway bar? i ask this because i saw sway bars for trucks with 3 inch drops. is there a certain amount of "dropping" that requires a new one?
2) this is not really a concern, but how much do these wiegh in comparison?

Speaking of better sway bars - does anyone know if some one makes a front sway bar for the 4x4s? Hellwig doesn't make one, they claimed it was to hard to install!!!! I find this hard to believe when all every one talks about is body lifts and suspension lifts and drops, much harder than any sway bar to install.
Do they still offer the 1 7/16 sway for the 4x2s? I don't know if there is enought clearance around the frame to use this one on the 4x4.
Does Ford offer a heavier version for he Lighting?

The Edelbrock shocks alone greatly reduce body roll. I was really surpised how much. Essentially, when the wheel moves upward slowly like during cornering, they are much stiffer than stock, but when the wheel moves fast like in a pothole, the shock moves quickly to absorb the bump.
I've added a rear sway bar, a 2" rear drop, & front urethane bushings, and the shocks made the biggest difference. From experience with other vehicles, I would say some good tires would probably make the biggest difference of all.

I tried adjustable shocks, wider HP tires, and a front and rear anti-swaybar. I did each one separate then evaluated them for a few weeks. They all helped; I'd do each one over again and recommend it, but by FAR the most noticeable was the front bar.
