Front end problems
Front end problems
I have a '97 F-150 4x4 and it is lifted about 6 in.( I bought it with the lift on it so im not positive)and 315-75r-16 tires on it. When i drive through town going about 35 mph and i hit some sort of bump ,any size will do it, the trucks front end just starts shaking really bad, almost to the point where it is impossible to drive so i slow way down until it stops. But, it wont do it if im doing over 55 mph. I looked at the front tire when i was driving and it was wobbling really bad. I took it to a tire place and had them check it out and they said it was fine, i had them balance the tires also but that still didnt fix my problem. What could be the problem.l
Hello Vlad and welcome to boards. The problem you're describing usually indicates worn out front end components. You need to get to a reliable front end alignment shop and let them give your steering and suspension a good inspection.
I've had the same happen to me in the past and it was something different every time. Once it was worn steering parts, another time the chassis cracked where the steering box bolted up to it. The point is that it should be checked out by a front end specialist. Regardless of what the fellow in the tire shop said, you know from driving it that it's not "fine".
Don't wait too long toget it checked because one or too damaged components will help to eventually ruin the others.
BTW, running big tires puts a lot of stress on the front end, you might want to consider putting in a steering damper if you don't already have one.
Good luck, let us know how things turn out.

Hi vlad
Your problem sounds just like mne when i first got my truck. about 35 mph it would just shake side to side badly. On my truck it ended up being my steering center link was worn out. I have a trailmaster lift and the part alone was $300. But definately have it checked before something breaks completely.
Hope i could help
