ride-rite air springs

I just wanted to know if anybody has a 99 or newer f150 with firestones ride-rite helper air springs on them. I know awhile back there was a post and a few people did. Do you really need the 7.5 inches between the tires and frame?

I think it's more like 6". I modded mine to fit on top of the leaf spring plate. All I did was swap the bump stop left to right to put the cuved end of it inside the frame for more clearance. BTW, my 7700 frame is flat and I noticed in the instrctions that the one pictured isn't. So 7.5" might be needed on non 7700's.

I just measured the Ride-Rites on my F250 and they are exactly 7" from the frame to the outer edge of the airbags with 90 PSI in the bags. I assume they're closer to 7.25" when deflated some.

So yeah, I'm sticking with what Firestone says. Hopefully someone out there makes some like this that are narrower by 1".
