I just replaced my rotors and pads on my truck yesterday. I had to knock on those rotors pretty hard to loosen them up. Now i'm noticing a squeak when the suspension is stressed in any way. When stationary, i hear the squeak when I turn the wheels. Driving down the road, with the radio off, I can here it going over any sort of a bump. I can simulate it by bouncing on my brushguard. I'm wondering if I could have knocked some thing loose or if it just needs to be lubed up. I'm going to replace the shocks in January probably. Just another annoyance...

 

I would try lubing everything up first.

I have squeek in my truck too, not sure if it comes from the front or back, but sounds just like a a rubber bushing squeeking. Try geasing all your front bushings with wd40, silicone or something. Also do as suggested before and lube the pitman arm and what ever else you feel may cause it.

 

I had the annoying squeek that you describe. I just sprayed some Liquid Wrench on all the bushings on the front suspension, and viola! no more squeek. Also, I would NOT use a silicone based lubricant to spray your bushings because silicone will dry up and it will squeek worse later, at least that is my experience.

 

Did you torque the lug-nuts with a torque wrench to be sure they are evenly torqued ?

It's possible that the lug-nuts are not evenly tightened which causes stressing between the wheel hub and the rotor/spldle assembly. If you rocked the truck back and forth you could hear a creaking noise coming from the wheel/hub area. I'd check that first just to be sure. You might have to find out from your wheel manufacturer what the proper torque spec is for the wheels you have...

I have a creak when you compress the driver's side front end. It's coming from where the torsion bar enters the hexagonal 'socket'. I've sprayed LPS-3 in there several times and the creak is still there. Any ideas ?

alright guys i just went out there and shot some wd40 on the all the rubber bushings. I sat there for 5 mins turning the wheel back and forth back and forth. It still squeaks so i either did something wrong or it's the pitman arm. If i'm doing it wrong let me know. If it's the pitman arm can you help me locate where exactly it is and how to grease it. If anyone could help me out i would appreciate it very much. I can't be driving around with that squeaking makes a fella ford brotha look bad.

I have the same squeaking noise but its comming from the rear I1ve lubracated every rubber piece didn`t change anything. Never had the problem untill went into the mud yhe first time. HELP!!

 

Sounds like your pitman arm. It is on the drivers side up front. It conects the stearing linkage to the gear box. It has no fitting however. They cost around 100 bucks if you want to swop it out, but do what I did. I got one of those hypodermic needle looking things that snap on a grease gun and pumped some grease into the boot. The hole virtually closes up when you pull it out. Do it on top of the boot. I'm not talking about one of those tapered things that will grease a u joint seal if it has no fitting...this is a needle. I got mine at NAPA.

 

Ok what about a sorta high pitch grinding noise the goes on while driving and braking? Also a sorta rattling/knocking sound when at idle?

 

Don't know about that but what you descibed before with you rocking the steering wheel back and forth is your pitman arm.

 

You may think I`m nuts here...... Look at your shock mounts on bottom. If they get any play there they to can make noises. Mine did this. Try to tighten the bolts up alittle bit. I hopr this helps.
