Question Wanting to get an add-a-leaf

I'm wondering if anyone has used one of these. Where did you get it? How much did it cost? How well do you like it? I'm really wanting an add-a-leaf, for the extra load capacity, mostly, and the slight increase in height. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Don't know what an add a leaf is but I have added an extra leaf spring to several trucks. I get them from a local semi-truck repair place that gets them from a place in KC, Triangle spring I think. They are made to your specs and I think they were less than$50. They will add 1-2 inches in heigth till they settle in after a while.

They are pretty inexpensive, you can get them online from any liftkit manufacturer like Superlift, Fabtech, Rancho, etc.

I really can't find any place online to get a set. Everyone has them for the old school f 150's, but none for 97+. Anyone know exactly where to get them?

I'm not looking for helpers. I need some lift. I Need "add-a-leafs."

Look in JCWhitney, they sell add-a-leafs. Rough Country makes some good ones.

I have them.

I got mine from summit. They were $36 and came with everything. Explorer pro comp makes them, and you can get long leafs for more weight, less lift, of short leafs for more lift. I have the short leafs and I got about 2" Sorry I don't have a part #. A word of caution though, the supplies tie bolts and such are trash. Buy grade 8 steel bolts and make the hole in your lift block larger to accommodate the new head. Don't go cheap on hardware. I did and the leaf kicked out to one side and killed one shock, my parking brake line and other important stuff I was not too happy about. Buy new longer U-bolts also, a set is good for ONE tightening. 22MM nuts need cranked on good. You ill also need shims because it will change the driveline angle of your pinion U joint to an axle wrap condition.
I'm happy with them, my truck doesn't sag when I sit my fat *** on the tailgate and the ride and braking is stiffer. They are a bit harder on the front tires because of weight transferred forward on the turns so I get chunking on the outside.
If I could do it again I would buy Hellwig Progressive Load thingies for about $300, but I'm broke.

Question Beetle....

Could you give me some more definitive information on the deal w/ the shims, and axle wrap? Where did you get the U-bolts and all the other stuff you added to make it work out? ??
