Lifting an Expedition

I have a 98 Expedition and would love to put a lift on it, and eventually a bigger tire. I have not seen many pictures of Expys like this. I am also not very knowledgable on what all goes into lifting a truck. I would like to remain as cost effective as possible. Could anyone give me some help....thing to know, cost estimates, etc.

The most cost effective way would be to go with a body lift. Performance Accessories sells one for the Expedition. I thind it's around $120 or so. You could install it yourself or any body shop should be able to do it for you.

Also, would it look weird to have a body lift on an expedition with the stock wheel and tires? Any pics of a body lift with the stock wheel and tires?

I would hate to guess on cost. I have read on this board of cost around $500 but that sounds really high. I know a guy that had one put on a 97 Z71 for $100 by a local garage. I would contact a few local shops and get some estimates. The job is not that hard on most trucks but it is time consuming. I don't think your truck would look that bad until you got some larger wheels and tires. What size are you planning on using? I would suggest 285/75 or 305/75s on 16x10 inch rims. Both of these tires are 33 inches tall.

its a little hard to see but here is my friends rig before he traded it in for an excursion. it has the exact same lift as my truck. its a rcd 6" lift with 35" muds. the lift cost $1800 installed and the tires and rims were $1000.

i had a 3 inch body lift put on my f150 sc today. i would imagine that it would be pretty much the same lift for your expy. total with install was 349.00 also had new 16x10 wheels and 305 75 16 tires put on total price for that 901.00 looks good.

Whiplash Performance makes a 10" suspension lift the the Expedition. If you would like some idea of what that would look like take the picture of my truck and imagine an Expedition over my body, I'd imagine it'd be damned close to the same size. Although having all of the extra weight, it may cause a problem with being top-heavy.
