BelTech 2-4 drop?

I recently purchased a 2-4 drop kit from Beltech for my 99 F150. I put the springs in so the front is done and ive previously done 2 inch drop shackles in the back. My question is the hanger. It says take a cutoff wheel and cut a slot in the head of the rivets then take an air chisle and knock off the head and pound the remaining shaft through. I just ended up grinding the head of a rivet into nothing and it sort of just melded in with the hanger. Has anyone put hangers on their truck or did everyone who did a 4 inch drop in the back have to take it to a shop cause that looks like what im gonig to have to do.

I just had a shop install my Belltech 3/4 drop. I didn't want the hassles or end up ruining something. I have read that after grinding off the rivets they heated the remaining part and then punched it out with a hammer. Hope this helps some.

Thumbs up

poorboys performance did my drop and they were cusing when they were done with the rear . the rivets wouldn't come for nothing .... they blew a hole through the rivet with a torch and beat the rivet out with an air hammer .... better them than me

The easiest and safest thing to do is use an air powered cutting wheel or similar. Notch an X on the rivet and hammer the head off. Lastly, push the rest of the rivet out with a punch and hammer. Using a torch is not the best idea on the frame....

When doing the lift kit on my Bronco, I ground the heads off the rivets and punched them out with a 3 pound sledge. There were about a dozen of them to grind off, it wasn't much fun. The F-150 looks much easier than that project was. I don't know if I'll ever lower mine or not. Hell, I'm still tempted to put a 3" spindle lift on it...

Good Luck,

Mitch
