Question Which Rancho shocks

I have narrowed it down to either the Rancho 5000S or the RSX. WHich one should I go with . My truck is driven on road about 70-80% of the time. Looking for something smooth on the highway that can handle off-road when I do get to go. I understand the RSX is supposed to just that. Can anyone shed some light for me?

Thumbs up

Get the 9000s, you can adjust them to what ever you need at the time you need it...

if youre looking for smoothness as well as performance then i have to agree and recommend the 9000's. i have the 5000's and i am MORE than happy with htem, but i was willing to trade a little comfort for performance. the 5000's are very stiff shocks compared to the stock shocks. also heard very good things about the edelbrock ias shocks, worth taking a lok at. good luck!

Trailmaster SSV

I'm currently using the Trailmaster SSV and found them to be quite stiff on the highway. It seems to take a toll on the back after riding for a couple hours. SSV was supposed to be Speed Sensitive Valving, but I get pretty sore after a long ride. I don't know if others have found the same in this kind of shock, but it is something to consider when looking at the adjustability of the 9000's. I would have chosen them, had I known the stiffness of these. The cornering and off road is greatly improved over stock, but the highway bumps go right to the back!

Thumbs up Rancho RSX

I installed the Rancho RSXs a few months ago and I am very happy with them so far. They ride firm, but not harsh. Handling was definitely improved. Body lean is now minimal and there is no more front end dive under heavy braking. I haven't taken it off road, but the ride and control over rough railroad crossings is dramatically improved. I tow occasionally and they worked great while towing a Bobcat, no bouncing when going over dips in the road. I wanted the RS9000s, but couldn't justify the additional expense. I am happy with my decision and would do the same thing again.

5000 work good for me

I just finished installing the Rancho 5000 on my 2000 excab 150 and they do seem to firm up the ride some. Took it down the power lines and they seem to work ok. I dont know if I would spend the extra $$$ for the 9000. But what the Hell its only money

Thumbs up Rancho RSX

Don't have one complaint about them. Smooth on the road, self-adjust weel off-road. Does the same thing as the edelbrocks for less money.IMHO.

I've got the 9000's on my truck now and really like the adjustability. If I'm towing my camper or have the quad in the back, I just make them a little stiffer and you never even know anything's behind you. The only downside is they're a little pricey but hey, you can't take it with you.

One more vote for the RS 9000s. It's nice to pick your own setting, crank the rears up when towing/hauling, and not much more cash.
