Question Sway Bar Problems

I have a 98 F-150 with the 9.5" rear locking
diff. I've been told you can not get a sway bar for this trucks rear end. Anyone know if this is so, and if it's not who makes one?

The Hellwig will fit but due to the VSS and other hoses on top on the diff., You will have to mount the sway bay upside down. Alot of others have been doing this.

Thumbs up Slim-

Mine has the 9.75" rear end. The Hellwig bar fits it perfectly mounted above the axle. I've had it on for almost 1 year with no problems. To mount it with proper clearance (which ends up being about 1" above the ABS sensor casting area of the rear end case), you have to rotate the U-bolts up at an angle. Looking at the passenger's rear tire, the U-bolt threads point up at about the 2 O'clock position.

Max,

How much of a handling improvement did you notice?
Where did you get your swaybars and how much did they cost?
Any idea if they make them for a 98 2WD 4.6 3.55?

Thumbs up Eagledriver-

I changed out the rear anti-sway bar, then the front anti-sway bar, then the shocks. I tested each one for a few weeks before adding the next one. Each one helped and was worth the effort/money. By far, the greatest improvement in handling was the front anti-sway bar (the Hellwig is massive vs stock; 1&7/16" vs 1&1/8"). You can really zip around corners for a heavy vehicle, it's very noticeable when a truck passes on the highway or exiting a high speed ramp. I got both bars from J.C. Whitney; they put them on sale every month or so for $119/front, $109/rear. They do make them for your application, I believe the exact part #s that fit mine will work on yours #7646/front, #7621/rear (these are the Hellwig #s). If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask.
