Shock Installation for 2WD
Has anyone replaced his factory shocks? What's required to installed? Do you have to lift the truck or can the replacement be accomplished with all tires on the ground?
I did my shocks the other day. Lifting the truck will be necessary, I dont think it very easy to do it on the ground. The whole process took me about an hour. It was very easy, the shock just drops through the bottom of the spring coil. I installed Monroe Gas Magnums. You can email me with any questions Bigjoe@f150driver.com.

The front suspension has to be jacked up to remove the front shocks. You need this extra clearance between the ground and the lower control arm where they slip out. The rears can be changed just as it sits; no jacking up.
I did mine about a year ago, and yes, the front needs to be jacked to get the shocks in and out of the coil. It actually is very easy install, once you get the mounting bolts loose (after 4 years of salt, lets just say that was not a lot of fun). I jacked mine up to the point the wheels were just about to leave the ground, set the jackstands up, and went to work.
Good Luck!

I didn't have to lift the front of mine. I was about to for just the reason everyone else did; I couldn't get the shock to slide out. Then, somehow, I found a way that it popped right out. The second one went ever quicker.
Now if I could remember how I slipped it out of there. Oh well, lift it a tad it and save time.
