Rear Shock Replacement with Lift

I have a '99 F150 4x4 with a Rancho suspension lift kit. One of the rear shocks broke so I want to replace the pair.

What is the factory length of the rear shocks? Do I simply need to add 6 inches to the length of the factory shock to get the appropriate length?

A couple of things:
If you are the original owner it maybe covered by our warranty. (Need receipt)
Most shocks will be made for a 4" system.
Were they the 5000's or the adjustable 9000's?
Also is there a bigger block in the rear? We made this system as a 4" lift (a little more than that in reality)

No, I'm not the original owner; I bought the pickup used with the lift already installed. I quickly measured the rear block with a tape measure - I may be wrong and it could be a 4-inch lift system (would make sense if that's what Rancho sells).

Red face

Then any/many manufacturer will have a shock that will fit this application.

We are on rebate but it is on 4....

On a 99 rear.
17.37compressed
28.66 extended
11.29 travel
You have to make sure to get the correct mounting style too.

For us the P/N is
RS999238 (roughly $100 per shock)or
RS5238 (roughly $55 per shock)

My '01 had an RCD 4-6" lift. The kit came with Bilstein HD's. They did well for me.

That takes into consideration the extra length needed to work with the rear blocks? Or is that the factory length?

That is a shock for a 4" height application.

I suggest going with the 9000xls if you have the funds, nice to see a non rebuildable shock that's adjustable has poly bushings and a big ole shaft. I put a set on a Mazda b4000 and have beat them pretty hard and still no weeps and the adjustments still turn smooth. Just wish they had a way to adjust rebound but again it's not rebuildable no one wants to spend 300 on a throwaway part(not knocking with the throwaway comment just stating it goes in the recycle bin/trash after it's lifetime of use
