Looking for upgrade or just what to replace

Hi there,

2006 lariat screw 4wd 165k miles

I'm looking to tighten up the drive of the truck. It's a daily driver for business. I own a construction company but rarely if ever have a load and it never tows.

Current suspension is original stock. I am sure it's ready for replacement.

What can I do to tighten up the ride?

I considered a 2/4" lowering kit but not sure what will give me the handling I'm looking for.

First thing I would do is go through all the ball joints, tie rod ends, sway bar end links, and bushings and replace was needs to be replaced. Also a new set of shocks wouldn't hurt. Then get a fresh alignment, if all of those parts are still the originals, there's a lot of them that are worn. You'd be surprised how much of a difference it makes.

^ I second that. Rebuild front end, then move to lowering and other things.

Ball joints and tierods were done last year.

Haven't done anything with the sway bar though. Where would I find those parts? And what are they?

Any recommendations for shocks?

Rock auto will have about all the parts you need. Depending on how long you plan to keep the truck, some moog greasable parts will help them last longer as long as you keep them properly greased.

As for shocks, are you going for a firmer ride?

Yes I would like a former ride. Less body roll in corners.

Redo front end and some Bilstien shocks will make a big difference.
