2011 EB Lift/Lower Question
2011 EB Lift/Lower Question
Hi all,
I've got a 2011 EB Lariat 4x4. I did a search for this, but didn't come up with anything.
What I'd like to do is have a cab-mounted control to either raise, lower, or put the suspension to stock height, through an air bag suspension. This project has the following goals (are they realistic?):
1. Lower ride height for in-town driving, leading to better handling and less roll.
2. Lower ride height for highway trips, better MPGs?
3. Raise ride height for foul weather (snow) for more clearance.
Sorry in advance, as I've never lifted nor lowered a vehicle.
Also, these mods must not hinder the payload capacity of my truck, as I use all of its rated hauling capability on a regular basis.
Thanks,
-John

For front and rear ride height control, you'd need a full air suspension which I advise against. When you alter the ride height, the steering geometry is also altered and what little MPG benefit you seek will be lost with rolling resistance. You could very easily go 1.5" lower by switching to 2WD struts and removing the lift blocks from the rear with no negative effect on your payload and towing capacity. If you want to go a little lower without compromising any capacity, you can go with Belltech lowering struts and lowering shackles for the rear, along with Firestone air bags for the rear when you want increased support. That's my setup and it is more capable than it was before. The airbags are just awesome!
