New shocks for leveling kit?

I'm looking at buying a pro comp 3" leveling kit for my ford f150 2005 xlt model. Now I've heard that it's highly recommended that you buy new shocks since you would be stretching the shocks because of the truck not sitting at oem height. Is this true? If so, what shocks would y'all recommend for the leveling kit??

Appreciate it-
Matt

Don't go more than 2.5", or your balljoints, tie rod ends, etc will be going out pretty quickly.

And no, since a leveling kit for your suspension stacks on top of the coilover, you won't need longer ones.

I agree that no need to replace the shocks. But getting aftermarket shocks like Bilstein would be a good idea since oem shocks are not that good.

If the coilover shocks on your 2005 have never been replaced, a set of adjustable Bilstiens to level your truck would be a great choice.

Hey y'all I already have a body lift on my truck with 35's but I was thinking about taking it off and putting a 2.5 leveling kit on it with upgraded shocks and 33's does anyone have any pictures of that? also would it benefit too kip the lift on and just level the back end with the front and just ad shocks or would I not be able to feel a difference? It just rides to rough with the body lift and I am not trying to spend 6k on a new suspension lift. Also how do you post pictures on here?

JLaw45,

You should go post in the introduction forum to introduce yourself to the crowd. Also, please use the search feature built into the site to try to find what you are looking for. There are tons of members on here that are or have run the combo that you are asking for. It is also slightly frowned upon to "hijack" someone else's thread as you have done here. In the future, if you can't find what you are looking for by using the search feature, start your own thread in the appropriate section.

You easiest way to post pictures is by using a hosted website such as PhotoBucket and then input the image URL into the post.

Welcome to the site!
