4" or 6" suspension

Hey I have a 2005 FX4, I'm going to be doing a lift but I'm not sure what size would look and perform best, currently I have a 2.5" level kit on 35" tires.
The truck will see some off road but mainly road driving to work, I don't need it too tall so what size is best and what company is best?

I am in the same boat as you as far as future lift plans for my truck (although I do not have a level kit on at this time).
Just wondering regarding your current set up - 2.5" level with 35" tires; are you running stock wheels or did you change those as well?

I have 20" KMC Slides on mine, but I've heard you can run stocks with this set up.

Your options for a 4" lift are limited compared to 6" lifts. It's just going to come down to what you want. There are plenty of existing threads discussing this, but you'll be fine with just about any major name brand kit. But I do have to say to go with a 6" because you'll likely want it bigger of you go 4". A 6" is still relatively small and conservative, so it won't be overly aggressive.

I agree with that 110% I was throwing around the idea of a 4" when I lifted my truck and my friend told me I was absolutely crazy haha. Thank god he did because I put the 6" on and I still want bigger. If I had done the 4 and all that work I would have been so pissed. It is still very easy to get in and out of the vehicle and I love the look currently with 35's and not regearing

Let us know which you choose. Info of my lift is in my sig.

Don't waste your money on a 4in lift. Most companies don't sell a 4in lift for our trucks (mine is an 07) because the biggest tire you can run is 35s with a 4in. You can get that with a level. The purpose of a lift is to gain ground clearance. The ground clearance comes not from the lift but from the larger tires you are able to run. This is just my input. Feel free to research further. When all is said and done, it's your truck. As long as you are happy with it that is what really matters.

I just installed the 4" Zone offroad lift on my truck and couldn't be any happier. check out my album for pics. Its the perfect height in my opinion, worst comes to worst do what a lot of us do and get the bilstein adjustable 4-6" struts and if your not happy with your 4" lift kit, its simple and cheap to raise it another 2"!

To the OP boy am I also glad I lifted it becasue if I had hit it with a non lifted or possibly a 4" I would have wrecked the fender (would need to repaint and repair, nothing like the OEM) and probably shattered the headlight. Sometimes it is a good thing to be up high.

SJP - Great looking truck! I don't see many people here mention Superlift; I have a 4" Superlift on my 1991 Bronco that runs 35" Goodyear MT/Rs. I have been happy with it and was looking at their lift for my 2007 F150.
