Service Advancetrac and Hill Descent Control Fault
2013 FX4 5.0 - Service Advancetrac and Hill Descent Control Fault
2013 FX4, 5.0, 4000 miles - at approx. 2500 miles I put on a 2.5"AS in the front with the Readylift blocks in the rear, along with 295/65/20 Nitto Trails on the factory wheels (see pic in profile). The same day I installed 5 Star tunes to account for the bigger tires.
No issues on a 700 mile roundtrip freeway run, towing the bass boat twice, and daily driving to work - until last week leaving work the Service Advancetrac popped up in the dash while going straight down the road. It went away and came back a couple of times, then leaving work the next day Hill Descent Control Fault popped up at the same time as the Advancetrac. This was weird to me as I had been driving the truck for a while with no issues.
After searching forums and all information I could find, I took it to the dealership the next day after reflashing to stock. Now all of the things I seemed to find (including TSBs) relating to these issues were for 2010-2012 trucks (bad wheel sensors, rack and pinion gears, ABS module update, wheel size reflash, etc.) or for the Raptors (3rd brake light moisture issues).
After having my truck for a week and going back and forth with Ford running tests on modules, sensors, etc, the dealership has concluded that the combination of my lift/level and tire size is causing the sensors and gyroscope in the truck to throw the faults (codes c1280, c1282, c1963, u1040). If I want them to continue to test for mechanical/electrical failure they need to put my truck back to stock (at my expense).
Has anyone else run into this problem? Are they correct and did I push the boundaries of level/tires combo too far? I researched for a while before doing anything to see what would fit with what size, etc, but never thought about all of this new BS techno garbage on the truck. Everything fits great with very minor rubbing on the UCA at full lock in reverse. Is there a fix or are my only options: 1. return to stock (no way) 2. Try smaller tires (33s) 3. Try a 'full' lift that advertises compatibility like Rancho, BDS, Procomp 4. Deal with it
