Question Need Torsion Bar Help

I recently purchases my first Ford truck. The front end set really low. I adjusted the bars as I learned in this forum. I adjusted them about 1.5". I took it to the alignment shop and they raised it another 1.5". The bars now appear to be totally cranked down. Will I have any problems with this? The truck now sets level and looks great. However I do not want any long term problems.

My truck is a 1997 F150 ex cab 4x4.

Are you saying that the torsion bars gave you 3" of lift? If so, that is NOT good. You will have major front end problems. You are only supposed to turn the torsion bar bolts 3 turns (MAX). That gives you about 1.5-2" of lift. If you got 3", thats about 5-6 turns. I would not recommend doing that, but would be interested to see what happens if you keep it like that

I did get about 3" of lift total. As I said the front end was setting fairly low to begin with. Possibly it was lowered at some point previous. When I got under the truck to look the drivers side adjustment was cranked all the way in. Is there anything I can check to be sure I will not cause any damage? The truck looks great and sets level but I do not want any hefty repair bills later.

Not a good thing. 3 turns or 1.5" is as MUCH as you want to go. Otherwise the angles become severe and you start going through CV joints very fast.

Also look at what you have done.

Say you have 8" of total suspension travel from full extension to compression. Say ford sets the ride height in the middle, so you have 4" up and 4" down travel.

now you crank the bars 2". So you have 6" up travel and only 2" down travel now.

You can see you lose extension on the suspension travel, so on large dips, you can pull the wheel off the ground. You can get shorter bump stops to elongate the travel another inch, but remember the CV joints!
