98 f-150 sas

Hey guys, well I just bought a 1986 F-150 with a Dana 44 front end for 800 bucks. I'm gunna swap that front end and put it under my 98. I've got somebody that has done this before to help out. Then i'll probably later on put Dana 60's under the 86 but that won't be for a little bit. Here's some pics of the truck...

Tell me what yall think!

if that '98 is a 2WD dont waste your time, you'll be so in the hole on swapping in a full compliment of 4wd parts that youd be better off just building up the '86 (but thats just my $0.02

on the other hand, if the '98 is a 4x4 and i'm just mis-reading your screen name, go for it (just make sure you check the gears and match them so you dont grenade something the first time you put it in 4x4 and hit the skinny pedal)

It's 2x4, I'm not going to convert it to 4x4 right away and I'm gunna do what 1997 lariat said and eventually find a junker 4x4 and pull its parts to make it 4x4.

dont forget the bolt patterns are different on the axles. the older truck is 5x5 1/2 where the 98 is 5x135mm

Its gonna be a ***** to rotate your tires if you do that you know... id almost say swap rear ends as well, but im not sure that other rear end will work with your 98.

I'm gunna put the 6" kit that's on the 86 right now in it. That should clear 37's right?

I think more like 35's or you'll probably have some rubbing issues. I'd ask klitch, he'd know for sure

Well the tires on the 86 right now are 35's and they clear very easy, probably room for 38's. So wouldn't it be the same for my truck if I am going to use that kit on the same axel?
