Quicklift leveled; Getting a bit of tail wag
Quicklift leveled; Getting a bit of tail wag
Original stock tires (275x65r18) and suspension on my 04 lariat. Moved to 275x70r18 bfg at ko and rancho quicklift. Front is now slightly higher than rear. Tail wags a bit around corners and the truck wanders on the highway.
Factors: wind catching the under chassis due to lack of rake. Weight shifting towards the rear around corners due to reverse rake (front is an inch or two higher than the rear).
Possible solution??
I was thinking a 1.5 in aal would help get that rake back and keep the weight on the front axle. Might increase the block height? Has anybody run into this with a good solution? I understand the the truck will never ride like stock again with this set-up being that the geometry is altered. However, I want my wife to be confident driving it so any small tweaks would help. Thanks in advance!!!

Alignment was done. Guys at Midas claimed that an outer tie rod was bad but im pretty sure the guys are crooks. The previous tires wore perfectly and I had my hands on the front suspension personally multiple times before I dropped it off. Now with that said, I still plan to get it up in the air to take another look. To answer the question re: how is it higher in the front? I guess Rancho got sick of people telling them that their numbers on the quick lift were false and they finally starting making quick lifts that really provide 2.5 inches. Both upper control arms were replaced at this time so the uppers are brand new.
I did my 06 with the Rancho Quicklift 9000 and it actually brought the rear back up and just a little higher than the fronts. I put my front a 6 and the rears at 7 and I think its better than it was before. I did replace the upper control arm/balljoints because it was pulsing when I was braking and it had a slight wander on the road.
i have an early 2004 with a really tall factory rear block and the quick lift did not make it level. its still higher in the rear. i have my shocks set very soft but have experienced no driving problems at all. recently, i drove through a wash board like row in a corn field pretty quick and it handled wonderfully.

the 04 shouldn't have a taller block unless it was changed, the difference from the 04-05 trucks and 06+ are a different leaf pack IIRC. The 04-05 take more to level than the newer trucks

these a-holes put 65 PSI in my tires! i finally took the time to check the pressure and was utterly shocked of the stupidity. no wonder i was all over the road! i was riding on the crown of the tires! i hate stupid people.
Did you put a lot of miles on your new tires? I would check the wear between the outside and the middle of the tread. If it's uneven I would push the shop to replace your tires. I would be furious if I had new tires ruined from something that dumb.
What psi do you run?
Fortunately, caught this a week after install

) the end result... its not level.
