Got quoted for 2 new upper control arms for my 05 FX4, also two outer tie rods. Parts are about $15 more expensive per but it includes a 1 year warranty on the labor. I just replaced mine about 9 months ago, brand new MOOG. I greased them 3x in that period, less than 15k miles on them. Brought it out to CO and hit the mountains and apparently they couldn't take it (level 3, baby trails out here) I'm pretty sure the stress from going down a steep grade got to them, but the mechanic said they looked like factory equipment to him -- I was like, uhh, they were replaced the same time as the lowers, which I participated in the removal and installation at a shop. They definitely need replacing, why I don't know, not happy with the performance. Anyway they quoted $740 for everything, and while I would do it myself I have no tools since I moved. I got the quotes using Moog parts thinking it was just the right side :/ but after getting it on the lift he was certainly correct in needing both.
