Lightning steering Stops?????

I just put a set of ’00 L wheels on my ’03 2wd. I would like to fab a set of steering stops to match the L stops. I’m cheap and a diy guy.

What I need help with is this, what are the dimensions that the Lightning steering stops are made to.

Any help appreciated. What I am really looking for is hard numbers not guesses..

I am hoping to not have to drive around all day and find a Lightning to roll around under and measure (and **** off the owner).

Thanks
Jeff

I had the same issue. My solution was to grind off the old stop from the backside. I drilled the hole to half inch the installed a 2 x .5 inch bolt with 2 nuts and made it adjustable incase I ever use different rims. Use a minimum of grade 5.5. I used some stainless hardware to eliminate rust as ever being an issue. I could take a pic if you want. mine have worked great for 6 months with no problems.

2”long, standard hex or socket head cap screw. Probably work either way.

I am thinking that it should stick out about 1/4” longer than the factory stops. Is that about correct?

I adjusted mine on a drive on lift to make sure I had it right. I used a standard bolt with 2 nuts and washers. The L rims are 2 inches wider and am not sure the exact adjustment required. Like I said I did it on a lift and turned the wheel just shy of rubbing. Mine rubbed on the LCA. The Lightning factory stops are pricey for what you get and this worked great.

Good luck. It's easy to do and saves some money.
