Question Bogus Mod?

I saw a commercial the other day for a suspension add-on from a company called Roadmaster, it's a simple mod that looks too simple to actually work. This is an item I'v never seen discussed here so I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with it or has heard anything positive or negative about this set-up.

You can check it out at http://www.activesuspension.com/
I'm curious to hear your opinions.

Thanx in advance

Thumbs up

There has been a few posts regarding this and from what I have read everyone likes it and I have installed the roadmaster active suspension and it does great. No adjustments after install and actually helps on the cornering when unloaded too. It is a bit pricey at over $200.00 but does a great job whether hauling, towing or running empty. You can check them out at

They are real friendly and took the time to answer every question I had plus I got free shipping.

WTF do those things do, anyway??

Hmmm. It seems like they work fine and people are pleased with the product.

I just can't quite figure out how they work! I have a degree in mechanical engineering and I just can't see what those springs are supposed to do. From the looks of their website, they don't know either!!

Maybe they pre-load the back half of the spring or something. Any ideas??

I think your right Howie, preload on the rear half.... the half that pivots on the shackles. I thing the Hellwig kit loads both the front and rear of the leaf spring equally. I think the Hellwig kit would probably do a better job of keeping the leafs from twisting under hard acceleration too, but not as well as traction bars or ladder bars would. The roadmaster does look smaller/lighter and would reduce unsprung weight.

Both the Roadmaster and the Hellwig kits would probably decrease body roll to some extent by virtue of the fact that stiffen the suspension, but niether could match the performance of a good rear sway bar. From what I gathered reading here, I suspect that the Hellwig costs a little less than the Roadmaster setup

I don't suppose anyones done aq sided by side comparison, hmmmm.
