Question Front end knocking noise

Hello All, been a while...

I have a 2001 Ford F150 Super Crew. I've been experiencing a knocking or a "snapping" noise that seems to be coming from the driver side front end. It only happens on a hard right, slow turn, such as when you back up out of a driveway. It may be occuring at other time but I just may not be noticing it. It is more pronounced when I'm on a hill or the front tires are coming off a curve (again like that of a drive way). Thankfully it can be re-produced with some regularity. I have already been to one dealer and they could not figure it out.

I went back to the dealer where I bought it and they are looking into it. They too cannot seem to pin point it. It is not the normal sound you would hear from a ball joint. The best way to describe this SNAP sound is like that of a human sound. Some people who have ankles or wrists that pop or snap.

I have the truck back because I'm heading to Kansas City from Omaha for the weekend. However, Next week it goes back to the dealer for more tests.

Does anyone have any similar experiences with there F-150 or Expedition? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I think I have the same noise and problem that you have. I have not taken it in to the dealer yet though. I would be interested in the fix when and if you find out the cause. Thanks in advance.

I hear mine as you do, mostly when I am backing out of the driveway. Mine sounds like it is coming from the passenger side most of the time, but sometimes comes from the drivers side. Mine does not do this all the time so it is not as easy to duplicate as yours is. I was wondering if it had something to do with the steering due to the lack of grease points. I too would be very interested if the find out what it is. Good luck!!!!!! I have not taken mine in yet.
