Question best way to bulk up rear suspension?

Alright guys!

I have been towing and hualing quite a bit of stuff these last few months and the give the rear of my truck takes is very very very frustrating ! What can i do to beef up the rear suspension so that i can load something on my truck and not get pissed off when its drops! I have a 98 150 with a 5.4 l. v8 in it! i don't have a lift or anything on it! i was considering an air suspension rig, but then i saw the hellwig add a leaf suspension, i think its called the lp-25. thought that was pretty impressive! but right now i am just looking for some options, price is going to be considered when i see what i can choose from! any help is greatly needed! kinda embarassing if you now what i mean!

Try using the Rancho 9000 adjustable shocks ($70 each), when I tow I just turn up the firm-ness a couple of notches and it does just fine. -just an idea

Thumbs up

Hey Big,
I have installed the roadmaster active suspension and it does great. No adjustments after install and actually helps on the cornering when unloaded too. It is a bit pricey at over $200.00 but does a great job whether hauling, towing or running empty. You can check them out at

They are real friendly and took the time to answer every question I had plus I got free shipping.

Either helper springs or I would recommend looking into this company Air Lift. I am going to get a set of new 5in lift rear springs and add a set of Air lifts bags to the rear. Even though I am running a dual shocks setup in the rear w/ Rancho 9000s they don't help. The shocks help control the springs but the do not eliminate the load.

Thanks for the info!

I have my eyes on the active suspension set up! Hellwig has a similer set up but it is made up of all leafs. i like the spring on the actice suspesion though, looks stronger that regular leafs! i like the air bags because my uncle has a set up like it on his truck, and he just adjusts them to where ever he needs, but he doesn't have an onboard compresser and he can only adjust at home! I don't know if i can manage the extra cash for that! I was considering adding an extra leaf and then a active suspension set up or the hellwig! i wonder if that would work! any constructive criticism! would like to know what people think!
