Why does 4x4 Sit Higher than 2wd?
With 2.5'' Leveling kit! I pulled up to my Buddies F150 4x4 same year as mine (06) and mine is 2wd with 2.5'' spacer and he has the same but still sits about .5''-1'' higher than me? But everyone on here says "Don't go over 2.5" or you will have to replace your ball joints soon" So what makes the 4x4 front sit higher without putting stress on the ball joints? Thanks
They come from factory higher. And not with a spacer like you have, the suspension on them is designed to be bigger. So the distance they have between upper and lower control arm is more than the distance you have would be an easy way to explain it (probably not the best way though). Hence why they can also use a lift spacer. Also the reason why people with 2wd can use a set of 4x4 coilovers to achieve lift, they're longer. They also come with a block in the rear, again from factory.
Go take a tape measure to your suspension and to his and you'll see the differences.

Ok then why Can't I Put the Bilstein Adjustable struts on my truck to make my distance from upper and lower A-arms greater without straining my ball joints? This is not making sense! I beginning to wonder if anyone has even tried it :/
Because of BALL JOINT ANGLES. You can do the leveling kit or the adjustable struts. Or even if you feel like wasting money a mix of the two, but don't go over 2.5".
By greater distance I meant mounting point distance. I guess I should have clarified that better. Not unless your planning on swapping frames and all suspension over to a 4x4 one, it's not gonna work bud. It's most likely not even gonna fit back into place.
You do understand how ball joints work, right? And how adding height to the coilover or adjusting the preload (adjustable struts such as bilsteins) add's height to the truck and thus changes ball joint angles?
It's been tried and failed. People have tried even just 3" only a small .5" more than the max recommend and it eats up ball joints and other components. If you think you'll be okay, go for it! It's your truck and your money, do as you please. But you have been warned.

Ok, I get it now, I just went and looked again and saw what you were talking about! Sorry, just frustrated. lol I noticed where my Upper A-arms are there are Identical mounting slots about 2'' down from where mine are, maybe thats where they are mounted on a 4wd? Anyways I see you have Xbox Live? what games do you play? lol
