Leaf springs out of order....

I have been plagued with random noises coming from the rear and had no idea what was making them. First the leaf spring clips came loose so I took it back to the shop that installed and they replaced them. They came loose again and rattled like crazy. I figured it would take care of it myself and got a set of bolt on spring clamps. The noise changed from a rattle to I guess you could describe it as metal crickets. It only makes noise on smooth road . I took the bolt clamps off and the noise isnt as bad but it's still there. I rotated my tires and just noticed this...

Could this possibly be the mystery noise that Im hearing(and the reason my clips keep coming loose)? It's only coming from the side that's out of order.

Should I even trust the shop to touch my truck again or DIY?

Heres the pic

Good side (just a arbitrary number for spring length)

4
3
2
1

Bad side

And a little flexing for your enjoyment

and yes I tried to paint my new dynomax bullet...the paint said good to 1200 degrees ...guess not

I dont see the clips. ? Im assuming those are aftermarket springs for lift. I 've gone the other route, and lowered mine for handling. Both my factory springs and Both sets of Roush springs I've had have clamps that go around the set of leaves, at each end. Not sure about my lifted Jeep. but that may be part of the problem. No clamp would allow more articulation, but also more chance to rattle. Look over your leaves really well and make sure there isnt one in the middle that has broken. Thats what just happend to one of mine, and it rattled bad.

He said he took them off to see if it would solve the problem, hence why you see none.

To the op, I'm not sure if it's the cause of the sound you hear but it definitely can't be good to have them out of order like that.

Who is the manufacturer of the springs ? How long have you been running them ? You say you just rotated the tires , then you started hearing the noises. So I'd start from there. It may seen odd, but the noises could be comming from your wheels. Do they have centercaps? I had the a noise that I could only hear while cornering , sounded like when a cv joint is going but allot fainter. a steady click click clicking, I thought it was time for wheel bearings or something was out of wack up front. But when I took off my sweet H.D. wheels before bringing it in. ( so they wouldnt get f'ed up) the noise went away. So I reinstalled the H.D. wheels and it came back. Then I removed the centercaps., and the noise dissapeared. Ive been trying to figure out how to keep the noise from happening because its embarassing, when I pull in places to park, people hear it and ask whats wrong with my truck. I love the wheels just hate the clicking noise while turning. But thats my problem. Back to yours. Start from when you first started hearing it. What did you change that may have started the problem. Call the Manufacturer. See what they have to say. Maybe theyll replace the spring packs. Mention that your on a Forum and would like to be able to report how well you were treated by their customer service. Another thought, spray your springs down with some lubricant and see if it goes away. My dads got 54 Jaguar and its springs have a wrap around them , with a grease fitting to keep them from squeeking. Old School tech.

The noise was before he rotated the tires, he noticed the springs out of order when he rotated the tires.

I think the noise is being caused by the springs out of order where you can see in the pic of the bad side the shorter spring (2) is stuck inbetween (3) and (4). And most likely causing a rubbing without any of the "padding" I guess would be a good term for it inbetween it and where it hits up against (4).

Also is the picture of the bad side at a weird angle? Because it looks kinda like your spring is going into a little bit of negative arch.
