Question changing gears

i have a 1999 f-150 and i am currently looking to install a 3 inch lift kit (PRO-COMP), complete with 33x12.5 Pro Comp all terrains. I dont want to be LAGGIN OR DRAGGIN going up hills. My gears are 355's is this going to be enough???

you will notice a powerloss from how the truck drives now, but I think you will be ok. after you get the tires, if you want more power, you can always just find lower gears and put them in. i have 33x12.50's right now with 3.08 gears and my truck has no power. i ordered 3.73's from summit and im looking around for a shop to do the install right now.

Donate,

I am assuming you are getting the 33/12.5/17 Procomps and keeping the stock wheels. If you wait another 2-3 weeks, Procomp is about to release their 35/12.5/17 tire. They will be $200/each. This is what I am waiting for myself.

I have a 99 ORP also with a 3.73 GR. I am installing the 3" body, 35's and will see what happens. If the GR is too high, I will probably go with 4.10s or 4.56s.

Good luck,
kev

Cool

With 33's you will see a small loss of power, but I think since you have the 3.55's you should be ok.

Exclamation

You are going to want at least a 4.10 gear ratio!!!!!!!! I have the 3.55 and it is aweful. I am getting new gears myself soon. If I where you I would just go with the 4.56 gears and run 35s.
