Coil overs in the front yes. However, have you ever looked at one or do you know what a coil over is?? It's a conventional shock absorber with the coil spring affixed to the body of the shock. The rod of the shock on a coil over is exposed like any other shock, just had a coil spring wrapped around it.

Dust and sand poses no problems to a shocks seal. Any modern, hight quality shock has one (or more) scraper rings on the most exterior portion of the shock body. That rings entire purpose for existing is to scrape and remove anything from the rod as it compresses back into the body. It removes everything before its exposed to any kind of seal. No seals are directly exposed to the outside world either.

yes, i know what a coil over is. I have helped rebuild a few for other applications. I can't say i have ever seen a dust type cover on a coil over in rock crawling so was just asking.

Even if dirt was an issue, why would baja guys want to run them? they get new shocks and coilovers (or atleast rebuilt) after every race (i'm assuming, i know in other off road racing sports they do) and also get adjusted thru out practicing as well. They get plenty of attention as is which the average truck owner won't give to theirs.

I'm not for or against the boots, but saying because socal people don't run them so they are bad holds no value in my opinion. It seems every sketchy truck and bad truck trend comes from that part of the country

06yz...please thumb back through all my post. At no point in this thread did I say they were bad. I specifically said they are 100% cosmetic.

They do use them on sand rigs. Helps to prevent pitting of the shaft and also blowing the piston seal.

I'm confused...you say they do run them on sand rigs and then supply a pic of something without them, what's your point?

That's not a shock boot, it's a coil wrap.

Yea and thats not gonna protect against sand and dust it just velcros on to protect from small rocks and what not. But hes right. the sand and dust could wreck the seals. im not saying its going to but there is a possibility of it. A possibility which could be avoided with some inexpensive boots.
