What size tire?
 

I am wanting to put on a body lift or a suspension lift. The guy who does it locally says its $500 for the kit and install for a 3" body lift and $1500 for the 4-5" lift kit and install on my 2000 F150 Supercab Red. I didn't think it was a bad price seeing what everyone else on here says it cost them. Anyway, I am stuck between which tire size, 33 or 35. I see were guys have said they loose power with 35's, so I am thinking 33's.

Problem is, I have seen very few with 33's on them and I don't want my truck to turn out like this:

Is it wise to put one on a truck with 120,000 well maintained miles on it? Does anyone have links to trucks that look good with 33's? I want to make sure I also get the right tire and wheel combination. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

I'm assuming your 4x4 because your looking at 4-5" suspension. Do you know what your factory gear ratio is? That will determine how much "power loss" you'll feel. And yes that truck will last another 100k as long as you properly maintain it.

Yes, it is a 4X4 off road package. It says AXLE 19 on the door tag which says
19 Conventional non-Positraction Differential 3.55 in the cross reference guide. I mainly use this truck to pull my trailer with a 1300lb lawn mower.

I pull the trailer and lawn mower once or twice a week for about 5 miles one way during the mowing season. So, its not alot of towing.

You could get away with 35's and that small of a load/short distance. I run 35's with 3.55's and pull my lawnmower everynow and other random stuff on it for short distances and it's fine. You'll notice it on hills and coming off the line, but it's not going to be horrendous. However if you ever planned to regear you'd feel like stock or better when towing if you went with something like 4.56 gears.

How much do you think I would spend regearing?

Would it be alright to commute to work without regearing? It mainly sits in my garage and I bought a used Scion for commuting (15 miles on way). But, if I do this all this work too it, I may drive it more.

4x4 figure like 1400 to do front and rear. You can save some if you do only the rear, but you'll have to do the front before you plan to use 4x4 if you do the back. You can't run them at two different ratios you'll mess all kinds of things up. And yea you'll be perfectly fine driving to work, I do like 40 miles a day haha plus a lot of long road trips down to north carolina (like 200 miles) once a month or so.

I read your DO's and DON'TS, it was really helpful as well. Does anyone out there have pics of their truck on 33's?

i had 33's on my old 97 with a BL and it looked fine to me. ill have to find some pics of it and post.

i have some pics in my gallery of this truck with just 3" BL and the 35's.

as for regearing, i would call shops to get a price, ive had pricing range from over 2k to just 1,200 for gears and install.

I had mine on 33's with 13'' of lift and they looked good. a little small but still good. so id suggest 33's with what ever amount of lift you choose. If you get 35's with that little of lift its gonna look to stuffed
