torsion bar question

Its on my 99xlt 4x4 with off road package.

I went to adjust the bolts and noticed that the driver side bolt was already somewhat cranked compared to the passenger side.

I did the passenger side first(4 turns) and there is still a lot of bolt shown. So I went to do the same on the driver side and after 2 turns the bolt was a lot higher with less threads showing.

I measured each side from ground to top if the fender flares and the driver side is about a 1/2 inch lower than the passenger side. I would have to crank the driver side all the way up to match the other side.

Any inside what's wearing out or why the two bolts wouldn't be at the the same point? I would've thought the driver side be higher since more of the bolt was tightened.

Thoughts/suggestions?
Thanks,

Not necessarily, they both aren't going to match. That's why people say to crank them up all the way, measure both sides, and then lower whatever side is higher.

X2 ^^

Nothing is worn out. Your truck does not have 50/50 weight distribution side to side. Combine that with what ever technique they use at the factory to set those and who know's what you'll get. I bet no two trucks are the same??

As pizza said, here's my suggestion:

Crank both bolts/bars as high as they will go. Literally turn the bolt full in to the stop. Now measure from a reference point to see what your side to side heigth is. Lower the high side to match the other and call it a day. If that's too hight for you; once you get them level, then lower both sides equally to a desired heigth.

Thank you both. I'll do just that.
35"s will go on today, hoping walmart wont give me issue fitting 315 on the stock 17's.

Should look good though after they are on there.

an fyi...only turn each one about 1 rotation each at a time...torsion bars do have some sensitivity to them...this will make sure they raise & lower equally.

Stock wheels & stock height...I think you'll be happier with 33's, but that's just my opinion. Don't like 35's on stock, skinny wheels. But as long as you like it.
