Steering stabilizer with Rancho 4" lift?
Steering stabilizer with Rancho 4" lift?
Hey guys,
So my steering is pretty shaky sometimes and i have been looking around a lot for some steering stabilizers. Theres not a lot of products our there for our trucks. Especially since i have a 4" rancho lift on my truck. Does anyone know of any stabilizers that could fit with this lift or have this set up?

i wouldnt recommend it.... i have 35s on my procomp stage 2 lift and i dont have any issues with shaking.
here's some food for thought. its the fabtech kit, but i believe they all mount at the same point. https://www.f150online.com/forums/su...yone-else.html

There are not a lot of products out there because of the rack and pinion steering. If you have a lot of vibration/shimmy out of the front end, I would diagnose and fix the cause rather than mask it with a steering stabilizer. I also had a real bad shimmy @ ~60mph and several different alignments couldnt fix it. I finally went to a different shop and voila, the alignment fixed the issue and it's still running shimmy-free after 1.5 years. So get an alignment as well as wheel balance. Also check your ball joints and tie rod ends as well.
The link posted above show broken steering arms caused by side-shear force from the steering stabilizer. Thats some scary stuff right there!

That broken rack was scary! Especially when on the fast lane on the freeway. What saved me from the wheel falling off was the stabilizer. But wont be re-installing it. Now! That I know that was the cause of the break.
I have the same problem with the some shaking, but thats due to my added 1.5 extra lift on the spring. So I just deal with it. When I had the stabilizer on, it helped a little. I recommend save your money for something else.

thanks guys. yeah i keep getting alignments every few months.. just am sick of it. thought that a steering stabilizer would help out... the shimmy isn't too bad, i just thought they would help make the drive a little smother. Ill be sure to check the tie rods, ball joints, and the ball bearings. I already replaced these all two years ago after i had a level kit on it that kinda messed up my whole front end..
thanks
thanks
