Rancho RS5000
Rancho RS5000
I guess it's been too long since I had good shocks on my truck because I just got a new pair of front shocks for my truck, I went with Rancho because I've always been a fan of the brand and used them on a Jeep Cherokee (those were RS9000 though) and absolutly loved them.
I went to a friend's shop who does all the suspension work I can't do for lack of tools and whatnot, this time just because I've never done shocks before, I was using some cheap Gabriel shocks and on my last off-road adventure here in Laguna Salada, Baja California, I was doing about 25mph on a dry river bed and the shock just couldn't hold and broke on the lower side, it was the best excuse to buy new shocks and upgrade them since I never really liked those Gabriel's. I was thinking of buying Bilstein but I couldn't find them in Mexicali, where I live, so I went with Rancho, I got them at a great deal, about $85 the pair.
After my first test drive I knew I would love these shocks, they work great, it's a smooth ride, I don't do a lot of off-road but I like to go and watch the off-road races and I needed something that would hold on regular off-roading and in Mexicali there's a lot of unpaved roads so you pretty much do off-road a lot anyways.
These shocks worked great, I've heard people like them on these trucks but I've heard the contrary also I guess it depends on what kind of driving you do and what kind of ride you want, I was about to buy the Monroe SensaTrac but couldn't resist and got the Rancho RS5000, if you do some off-road and like a smooth ride I do recommend them.
I will be buying the rear shocks next month and I will for sure get another pair of Rancho RS5000, my wife loved the smooth ride on a small dirt road, not to bumpy though, we were doing about 45mph and it was really good and smooth ride.
I can't wait for the Baja 1000 now!
