swaybar links

Anyone been having problems with swaybar links? (Apologies if this has been covered; I'm new to this board).

My Navigator was making a small thunk upon starting forward or back in a hard turn, like something was shifting position. Dealership replaced right swaybar link about a month ago, and problem popped back up again a few days later. Now they say the replacement link has been worn out already, and will be replacing that, the sway bar, and assorted other hardware and rubber insulators. Seems like just throwing parts at the problem. Friend with Expedition reported the link simply came apart on his, causing a wilder than expected turn one day.

I replaced them....

I replaced the front anti-sway bar bushings with polyurethane and the kit came with new end links. The OEM links are just weak.

I ordered mine (special order) from Summit Racing. They are Energy Suspension and ran $29 for the kit.

Now that I'm seeing all the posts about end links popping off, breaking etc. I'm glad I replaced mine. The whole kit (realy simple: 2 bar bushings and end links with poly bushings) gave a little more "positive" feel. Not a great deal but a difference.

I think $35 or so (to the door) plus about 30-45 minutes of my time was well worth it. And to think I killed 2 birds with one stone by replacing those plastic covered little bolts called end links.

Had mine replaced by the dealer less than 1000 miles ago. Had the same popping / clunking noise. It solved that problem but now it makes a popping noise when I turn the wheels to full lock and try to move. It will go in for that next week.

One of mine broke too. The stock ones look really weak. I ordered some replacements that were either urathane or really hard rubber. The stock ones use an odd design with a plastic peice in it and it seems like a bad design.

Mustang GT end links work too!

You might try some late model Mustang OEM end link take-offs - they fit fine. They show up on eBay for $8 to $15 a pair all the time.

I just pulled one of the end links from my wife's 2001 Mustang GT and it fit on my 2000 F-150 Supercab 4x4 perfectly. Same exact bolt diameter and they are All Steel with blue poly bushings.

I'm going to buy a set from one of the eBay sellers and post my results in a few weeks.
