Recommendations for busted parts...

Hi all. I'm a longtime Ford owner (1996 Explorer Limited, 2001 Expedition Eddie Bauer (5.4L)) and finally got myself an F-150, a 2004 FX4 with 105K, to be exact. Got it for a decent price but then when I took it to my mechanic to check the alignment since it was pulling a bit to the right I found out that the nearly new General Grabber AT2 tires were chopped so I ordered a set of Cooper Discoverer AT3 and found out after they pulled the wheels off that I was suffering from the dreaded busted front coil springs.....both of them. Also my lower ball joints were bad.

I just (literally 5 minutes ago) ordered two Moog lower BJ, and two Moog upper control arms since I figure it's is in my best interest to just go ahead and replace the uppers while I'm doing it.

The recommendations I need are what to do about the coil springs. I like the idea of the Rancho Quicklift on the front and RS9000XL on the rear but I'm not sure I want to risk wearing out my front end components faster and the loss of mpg (15-18 is plenty low for me as it's my daily driver). I hope to do the work myself so I prefer a coil/shock pre-assembled combo.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

You won't prematurely wear out the components as long as you stay under I think it's 2.5" for your body style but it maybe 2" in the front. And you really won't notice a loss in gas mileage if you only go up that much, maybe .5 mpg at the most. The only way you'd really see a decrease in gas is if you get bigger tires too. Also bilstein makes a coil over assembly with adjustable height too just to give you another option, not sure if it all comes pre-assembled though but I'd assume so.

And welcome to the site!
