What did I just do?
What did I just do?
Hey guys - quick question for all the experts out there...
I tried the search, (before anyone suggests it!).
Okay, so I've been having a light "clunking" coming from the front driver's side when rolling down the road - thought it was something on the tire, best way to describe it is it sounds like a rock stuck in the tread. I've checked it, and there is nothing there. So i started thinking it might be up in the engine compartment or something with suspension. It speeds up when I speed up. Anyway, was just driving down the road (45 mph), put the truck in neutral, gave it a little gas to see if the noise sped up independent of wheel speed, and based on RPM. Didn't seem to make a difference, so I think it's tied to wheel speed. BUT when I put the truck back into drive and gave it some gas there was a loud "pop", and I felt something through the floorboard on the driver's side, it felt like I hit something and it bounced up and hit the underside of the truck. I looked in my rearview and there was nothing on the road, and the strange thing is the clunking is gone now. Just wondering what it could have been that broke free and stopped the noise I have been hearing for a good while now. I took a look underneath, and the vertical swaqy bar bushing on that side is loose, I'm replacing it later today - but I don't see how that could have had anything to do with this noise (I was on a straight road when I tried this) As always, any help would be appreciated, and thank you in advance.
