Coil-over and leveling kit Question

I'm gonna be picking up some newer coil-overs for my 4wd soon and right now, my worn out coil-overs have a 3" leveling kit on them and sits 1" lower in the front.
I'm stuck between keeping the 3" or buying a 2.5" kit to replace it.
So should I replace the 3" kit with a 2.5" because I'm getting newer coil-overs?
If I keep the 3" kit I'm probably going to gain the 1" to level out my truck that I want, but my angles will be a little extreme.
If I buy the 2.5" kit, my truck will probably have the same stance, my angles will probably stay the same as they are now, and I will just have newer coil-overs.
So I'm debating on what to do.

Don't risk the angles I'd go with the 2.5" personally.

Angles are too bad on a 3" kit, the 2.5" will be much better. You won't go through ball joints and cv axles as quick with the 2.5" kit.

I had a 3" kit on my truck with add-a-leaf in rear for 2 years...I ran 35" BFG'S in the winter no problem...after about 20,000 miles I could tell my ball joints were ready to die...
I replaced front controls/joints and lower joints and did the outer rods while I was there...all moog parts from advance...my first problem was that the alignment shop said I needed a camber kit...(which I never needed before)...Then after I put the moog camber kit on and they did the alignment I noticed the truck would make noise...which I believe was the spring and the upper control arm hitting...they told me there was nothing they could do...since then I replaced them again because the boots were getting destroyed...thankfully they have a lifetime warranty...and installed a 2 1/2 "spacer...then I told the new alignment shop to try and do it without the camber kit...It now drives like **** and still makes noise...
I believe that the moog upper arms/lower joints might not be exactly the same as the OEM Ford arms/joints and this may be my problem...I might just spend the $350 to find out...
just not ready to spent $$$$ on $1,000 shocks or uniballs...not yet...

what ya'll think???

Thanks

How did you know your ball joints were wearing out? Did they make a sound or did they just ride rough?

at 70 mph it felt like my tires needed to be balanced...got them balanced and no better...replaced joints...and after...nice and tight...just made noise in turns and bumps
