Helper bag air pump
Helper bag air pump
What are you guys running for air compressors for your helper bags? I am putting a set of Firestone Ride Rights on next week and try to figure out what I want to use for a compressor.
I plumbed mine into the cab next to the back seat on the driver side. There is an outlet on the backside of the center console. I just use a 10 dollar air compressor that has a relatively accurate psi gauge to pump them up manually. Takes 5 minutes or less to fill them all the way up. Would it be nice to have on board air compressor, yes, but this works just fine. Routed them in cab to keep them clean, rather than out near license plate, which compressor would not reach.
I bought a semi heavy duty pump from pep boys and plumbed the air bags into the pump. it does the trick and have used it with no problems for over a year now. it was around 50 or 60 dollars.
I also found a gauge and switch setup on craigslist for 50 too.

I was just wondering...I dont have the bags yet. The place I got my lift was saying they usually put a T so you just have to fill one line....that usually you dont have a load in your bed of the truck that is so one sided that you need to level left to right. I agree I would not have a load like that im sure. Long term plan is on board air and train horns too so I guess one line for the bags would be better anyway.
TSS, What company and what all is included with everything to install?
Jerry, thanks for the tip, I do believe I will be installing them tonight and I do have some ratchet wrenchs.

Well hopefully went in pretty easy then. Let us know how it went. I know u already have aal, so hopefully wasn't any different with them.
Well I got them on and they seem to be holding air fine. The mounting and spot and the 9/16 ratchet wrench ideas from Jerrybizzle worked great.
I don't know if the add a leaf was a help or not, it was a pain to get the bag stretched out and bolted in. All in all it took me right at two hours to do the bags and put new Bilstiens on the rear. Hopefully tomorrow I can get the time to do the front Bilstiens then it's exhaust manifold time and that may be a dealer job, just haven't made my mind up yet trying to save some money after the new goodies purchases.
Thanks for the helpful hints!!!!!
